NHS Choice Exercise
New arrangements for the NHS Pension scheme were introduced on 1 April 2008. The new arrangements will have a normal pension age of 65 years with some improved benefits for members.
Existing members will have the option to transfer to the new 2008 arrangements and convert all of their existing service to pensionable service in the new 2008 arrangements.
When the time comes to make a choice, members will be issued with a pack containing information to help you make an informed decision.
This Choice exercise is planned to take place during 2009
Members who wish to remain with their existing scheme, with normal pension age of 60 years, do not need to reply to the Choice exercise.
To provide you with further information about this exercise we have produced some literature which can be used by NHS Employers and staff.

As the arrangements for this exercise and timescales are always under review, we would suggest that you check this website regularly for updated information.
