Medical Appeals

The Agency's Policy Branch also plays a small but significant role in medical ill-health retirement and injury on duty appeals. This Agency, on behalf of the Scottish Ministers, is responsible for appointing the board of medical referees who hear the appeals. Since 1 October 2003 all medical ill-health retirement and injury award on duty appeals have been referred to a Board of Referees supplied by BUPA Wellness. If you wish to make an appeal against a decision on ill-health retirement you must contact your own police force.
