Scheme information

There are two police pension schemes and listed below is information which hopefully can help to answer any queries you may have about the scheme you are in. If you require further information you should contact your force pension administrator.

The Police Pension Scheme (PPS)

Membership of this scheme was closed to new members from 5 April 2006. However the scheme continues for those officers who are members of the PPS. The New Police Pension Scheme (NPPS)

All officers joining the police service for the first time on or after 6 April 2006 will be admitted to the 2006 Police Pension Scheme (NPPS). NPPS maintains the fundamental principles of the 1987 Police Pensions Scheme (PPS) of pensions benefits based on final salary and a low normal minimum pension age in recognition of the heavy fitness demands placed on operational police officers.
