Scottish Transport Group Pension Schemes
Following the formal winding up of the Scottish Transport Group Pension Schemes in April 2002 the Scottish Government instituted a programme to make ex-gratia payments from the surplus pension funds to former members of the two schemes involved. This programme is being administered by the Scottish Public Pensions Agency. Although we have written to all members, advertised extensively in newspapers, used the DWP tracing service and contacted Personal Pension providers to identify potential beneficiaries, there are still around 600 people who may be eligible and have not yet contacted us. In the majority of cases these are people who paid into the schemes between 1974 and 1991 or, if they are now deceased, their spouse or legal representative.
Former members of either the Scottish Transport Group Staff Pension Fund or Transport Operatives Pension Scheme, whose name appears on the following list (or their spouse or legal representative), may have a valid claim for an ex-gratia payment from the fund surplus. In cases where the member has died the name listed could be that of their spouse or next of kin.
